Computer use and Internet access

We make significant use of a software package called Moodle (Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment) which serves primarily as a means of distributing and collecting electronic documents (written assignments, lesson plans e.t.c.).

If your course includes a Moodle component (which most of our courses do), you will be provided with a Moodle enrolment key (once we have received your deposit payment) and you will be expected to upload and download course-related documents using Moodle from then on.

Regular Internet access throughout the duration of your course (and in some cases before your course begins) is therefore very important.

It is not an absolute requirement but we strongly advise you to use a word-processor for all your written work.

If you are doing a part-time compulsory attendance course, a full or part-time optional attendance course or a non-attended course, only in very special circumstances will we allow you to give or send us a piece of handwritten work rather than uploading an electronic version (using Moodle).

We maintain a number of desktop PCs at the school which trainees can use but demand for these can sometimes outstrip supply.  We therefore also advise you to bring your own laptop to attended courses if you have one.

Wireless Internet access is freely available throughout our building.
