Professional Development Course Design
Professional Development Course Design (PDCD) is an online coaching and consultation programme for experienced teachers, trainers and educational leaders who want to create their own professional-development provision in collaboration with ITI.
You bring the experience, the professional need and the initial idea. ITI helps you shape it into a course or programme that you can deliver locally, online or through your own institution.
Who Is PDCD For?
PDCD is designed for experienced educators who want to develop a specialist course, workshop programme or online training offer for other teachers.
It is particularly suitable for trainers who have completed a Train the Trainer course and are ready to develop a project of their own.
- Experienced teachers and teacher trainers
- Academic managers and institutions
- Freelance trainers and local training providers
TURN YOUR EXPERTISE INTO A COURSE FOR TEACHERS
Shape your professional-development idea into something practical, well structured and ready to deliver.
What Will You Develop?
PDCD is based around a real course idea or professional-development project.
Through a small cohort of online coaching and consultation sessions, you will work towards a clear, realistic plan for your course. Depending on your project, this may include:
- Defining your target participants and their needs
- Clarifying the purpose and outcomes of the course
- Designing the programme structure and content
- Preparing training activities and course materials
- Deciding how the course will be delivered: face to face, online or blended
- Planning assessment, evaluation and certification
- Preparing for a pilot course or full launch
By the end of the programme, you will have a stronger course concept, a practical development plan and a clearer sense of what is needed to move forward.
ITI Support & Online Delivery
For selected projects, ITI can provide further support as you prepare to deliver your course, including guidance on course delivery, administration, online hosting and certification.
ITI support for course delivery
This may include guidance in:
- Course administration
- Candidate application and selection
- Programme and course content
- Training and co-ordination of the tutorial team
- Participant assessment
- Course evaluation and quality assurance
- End-of-course certification
Develop and host your course online
If your course is suitable for online delivery, ITI can also support you in adapting and hosting it online.
- Shaping content and activities for online learning
- Hosting the course on ITI platforms
- Listing and promoting the course through ELTica
- Managing applications, enrolment and participant communication
- Supporting payment and certification procedures
Where appropriate, courses developed in collaboration with ITI may be offered as ITI Certified Professional Development courses. This enables trainers and institutions to deliver professional development locally while working within agreed standards for course design, delivery and participant support.
How PDCD Works
The programme helps participants design teacher-development courses around clear professional needs, aims, sequencing, materials, delivery procedures and evaluation.
1. Bring your idea
You begin with a professional-development need, an area of expertise or an initial course concept.
2. Develop it with support
Through online coaching, consultation and peer exchange, you make key decisions about the purpose, structure, content and delivery of your course.
Is PDCD right for you?
You should have relevant teaching, teacher-training or academic-management experience, as well as a genuine interest in developing professional development for other educators.
You do not need to arrive with a finished course. However, you should have an area of interest, a professional need you want to address, or an idea you are ready to explore seriously.
Develop your project with ITI
Whether you want to create an in-house staff-development programme, a specialist teacher-training course or an online professional-development offer, PDCD can help you take the next step with confidence.
